Looking for some help on getting it real green. The areas where there is some shade it comes in very green, but the majority of the lawn has no shade and is only moderate green. It’s about 2.5 months old–when should I fertilize and what is my best choice? Thanks

The lawn in the sun probably needs to be thinned out already….even though its a fairly new lawn. Chop it down a couple of height settings lower than what your currently mowing, remove the clippins and then fertilize with any balanced food, (25-5-5) is a typical analysis. When the the new growth comes out , it will be lush and green. If you want to prevent cool season grasses and weeds, apply- ‘Scotts Halts’ fertilizer+ weed preventer. (only if your not overseeding with rye).

Never cut more than 1/3 of the leaf at one time. If it is only 2.5 months old it probably has not established itself. Irrigate deeply and infrequently. The stress is probably from the sun & heat.

To Turfmiester, Bermuda can handle being scalped….if its done at the right time of year- early fall, and/or spring.
