The soil around my property in Texas Hill country ( reg 8) may be great for adobe buildings and roadbeds but can I grow a lawn on it? This is an extremely fertile rich soil and should produce a heavy mat of dichronda or bermuda but I desire St. Augistine. That choice may be difficult also because I want to take the lawn right up to the trunks of these beautiful light Oaks on the property. I understand there is a shade problem with St. Augustine.So.My choice would be to cultivate the native soil without any addition and level and then sod with a Texas variety of St. Augistine? What are my chances of success?
