We recently decided to have TruGreen come and treat our lawn for the weeds and fescue problem. We have tried many things in the past but the amount of time and money it required was too much. The cost of TruGreen seemed to be fair compared to what we were spending on it ourselves. It looks like most everyone on our street has made the decision to finally let someone else take of their lawns. My question is does anyone know if this can be done for one year and then maintenance to keep the weeds away be accomplished more easily by our on means? Does anyone have anything they can tell me?

my neighbor is the only one that uses them but I’ll be damned if his lawn is not heads and tails above everyone elses. They come once a year.

I’m not sure what chemicals can offer to select out one grass from another grass. Fescue is a bunch grass and can be pulled out in clumps. You might be able to use the Weed Hound tool for that, and the bermuda should fill in. Set your mower very low, all the way to the bottom, and the fescue will have trouble competing with the bermuda. The bermuda will get extremely dense when mowed lower than 3/4 inch.

Image will eliminate the fescue. As Dchall said, lowering the mower height and heat will stress and eventually kill the fescue. Image is available at Home Depot. Make sure you follow the label, though. Don’t mix it too strong and make sure you water it in the next day. It may cause a little yellowing in the Bermuda, so be careful and remember that a little bit will go a long way.

you’ll need chemlawn to come more than once…consistent care is the key…
