I’m having a devil of a time trying to kill wild onin. It has been growing and spreading all winter. I live in Atlanta and have bermuda grass. I tried a product called image on it several weeks ago, the wild onion is still around.

Any suggestions….

wild onion is one of easiest weeds to kill. image is not effective on wild onion, nor do i think it’s labeled for it. use a product with 24d in it.

Speedzone is a relatively inexpensive selective herbicide labeled to kill wild onion and wild garlic, and a host of broadleaf weeds. Speedzone is a 4-way combination of 2-4,D, mecoprop, dicamba, and carfentrzone ethyl.Imazaquin (active ingredient of Image) will work but it is slow. The ultimate weapon would be one of the sulfuron selective herbicides like Manor (metsulfuron). Manor is very effective on grassy weeds and is labeled for wild garlic / onion. At $200. for 2 oz, it out to work well… I have not used Manor on wild onion, but I have applied 0.5 oz of Manor to an acre of turf and it burned up the smooth crabgrass overnight.
