I have just moved into a new house where I switched from the Tiff (419) Bermuda to St. Augustine. The houses beside me and behind me have Bermuda. I noticed this morning some Bermuda creeping into my yard from the rear fence line. This is brand new St. Augustine sod. What should I do? Can it take over my St. Augustine?

Also, does anyone know what type of fertilizer I should use at this point to help the sod grow stronger.

Sorry for all the questions, but I am new to all of this.

Thanks,Tracy

I have a similar problem and was told to use Atrazine (specifically they sold me Atrazine 4L Herbicide from Southern AG). However, 2 important caveats: (1) Do not apply until late summer (depending on where you live) otherwise it will damage the lawn (and apply at dusk); and (2) be careful of shrubs and tree root lines. Hope this is helpful!

you can use metal borderlandscape edging similiar to what you find in garden stores. seen alot of this in this situation in houston- it works.
