I have brown streaks starting to show in my bermuda lawn. They are abour a foot wide & two feet up to 4 feet long. It appears almost like I scalped it when cutting. Any suggestions welcomed. Jim Vaughn

Make sure that your lawn is not under any stress when you mow. If it is dry, or wilting you will get a bad cut. Make sure your mower is at the best height for the turf, not your preference. Always use a sharp blade. Rotary mower blades stay sharp for about 2-3 hours of mowing. After that they start to cause damage to the turf. Never mow over any active disease. Early in the morning you may see what looks like cotton, its called mycelium. This is the active disease killing your turf. This is especially true with Pythium. It will track with mowers, foot and wheel traffic.

I don’t know what your exact problem is but these are just a few of the mechanical problems with lawn damage.

Remember, circles and irregular shapes are natures problems. Straight lines are manmade problems………………..

im sure that u did scalp it, do your have a slopping lawn, or little 4 feet long rolling bumps, or is your yard gerneraly flat.

my lawn if more of a rolling lawn with little hills that my fixed deck mower loves to scalp.

if your have any seed laying around poke some holes into your “brown spots” and seed them, mabey add a little sand or topsoil, then water that daily and your should be fine.
