I have a dilema that I hope someone can help me with. I want to know how to get a deep, dark green turf without overstimulating the lawn. In the past I have fertilized heavy and end up mowing every other day. I get sick of this and I’m sure it isn’t good for the grass. I live in Midwest Michigan. The grass is tall fescue and a couple of K/bluegrass’. I have irragation and follow all the other turf rules pretty closely.Does someone have a product suggestion that I could use on my lawn to get its deep, dark green to come out?

Assuming it has enough water, then nitrogen is the second element needed for green. After that, iron can cause yellowing. After that, disease and insects cause yellowing.
I’m going to assume you have enough iron and no disease or insects. For nitrogen, I use ground corn meal, alfalfa meal/pellets, or corn gluten meal as organic fertilizers. They provide nitrogen in a round about way that prevents burning or overstimulation. The nitrogen comes from protein molecules in the material. When the protein molecules get decomposed by soil microbes, the microbes break out the protein into amino acids and humic acids and leave them in the soil in a natural form for the plants to have as needed.
