Please help-

When I turn on my sprinkler system on the light comes on but the pump does not, the pump is only 8 months old, could this be a problem with it or a fuse? I’m really in a jam because there is no rain in the forecast for days and I don’t want to lose my grass!

Kimjas, I’m not sure what is the function of the light. Is it a warning for a heat sensor? Does the pump attempt to make any noise when you turn it on? Is it 3-phase, and could one of the legs have shorted out. If it’s not still under warrantey, now is a good time to call a pump specialist.

I somewhat know a thing or maybe two about pumps as I had to install my own well and pump last year (couldnt afford to pay to have it done). Chances are, the pump light is on 110v and the pump is on a seperate circuit of 220v. Phil is correct in asking if the pump attempts to make any noise, but from your typing, I am gathering that it isnt. According to code, you should have a ON/OFF switch within eyesight of your pump, so the simplest and first thing to check is to see if that switch has been shut off. The step is to see if the breaker is tripped. If it is, the obvious fix is to reset the breaker. If neither of those aren’t the problem, and your not familiar with electricity, you should find a electrican or pump serviceman to come test your equipment for you.
