When someone says to put down some 34-3-20 How do you determines how much to spread per 1000. Also how do you determines that your are only putting 1/2N per 1000. I want to know how to calculate.Also how can I find out how much N each type of grass needs. Johnboy

Johnboy,34-3-20 fertilizer consists of 34% N, 3% P, and 20% K. Therefore in order to calculate how much of each nutrient is in the product, you need to convert the percentages. 100 lbs of product would have 34 lbs of N, 3 lbs of P, and 20 lbs of K. A general rule of thumb is to apply 4 lbs of N per 1000 sq ft per year for most turf grasses. However, do not apply more than 1 lb per any one application. I recommend doing so in four separate applications of 1 lb.I am also curious why you want to burn your bermuda grass?

I was told by a friend of mine who is a Superintendent on a golf course who has moved to another state and I haven’t been able to get ahold of him said that you can burn your grass to get rid of the thatch and also that it will come back greener and quicker out of dormant

kklinkin, how do you know how much N you are putting out each sp foot? Like in 32-3-20. How do you figure that in this fertilizer that it is only going to put out 1/2 to 1lb of N per 1000. Also how do you put your fertilizers. I know the 3-2-1 rule for each season, but how do I go to like Southern State and say I want 30-10-0 and know that what I need for my yard. Thanks for your help. Also do you know my answer on the other post about weeds and poa. Also is there anything out there yet that will kill onions. Thanks

if you have a 50 lbs bag of fert, the easiest why is to divied the major nutreintby 2. such as 24-5-11 50lbs would be 12000 sqft per bag for 1 lbs of nitrogen per 1000sf. .5 lbs would be 24000 sqft. then divied 12000 into 50 tell you lbs of fert. per 1000sf.

So are you saying that 50 divide by 12000 equal to .004 lbs per 1000? And also where did you get 5lbs would be 24000? Thanks for trying to help me. I’ve been waiting for someone to help
