New to the board, so this may have been discussed previously, in which case I apologize.

Anyway, my problem:My neighbour decided to grow Chives in his vegetable patch at the end of his garden a couple of years ago…. and they have spread like the proverbial wildfire. My garden is covered in them, they smell (of onions obviously) and when the kids play on the grass the juice from the chive stems irritates their skin quire badly.

I’ve been manually digging up the turf and pulling the chive bulbs but this is an endless (and thankless) task. It has been suggested that pulling them in this manner actually promotes the spread of the bulbs and the tangled mess of root that exists just a couple of inches under the surface.

Can anyone help me in getting rid of these damned things, please?
