Does anyone know of any place or site that sales weed killer at low or affordable prices. I live in North Alabama with a yard of cummulation of broadleaf and winter weed called poa-annua and henbit. Its March and I need to get the weeds undercontrol before they take over my zoyia and bermuda like last year. Also would you reccommend Scotts crabgrass with horts or something else for this time of year. I am on a limited income so a place to buy chemicals at cheaper prices is greatly needed. thanks

Buy a good quality pump sprayer (about $25) and a bottle of concentrated 2,4,D weed killer (about $8 a pint). Read the directions for mixing and follow them. If directions call for a surfactant just add about 5-10 drops of dishwashing detergent (like Joy or Dawn) to the gallon of water. If you can cook you can mix this herbicide.

Spot spray your weeds. This minimizes cost and minimizes pollution. The weed killer is probably good for about 2 days so don’t mix a bunch and keep it for later use. You can use the rinse water as make up for a new batch.

You can use a good weed/feed with 2,4D. Avoid using one with atrazine unless you want your bermuda to go yellow for a good while (and maybe kill some of it). Atrazine can be used on bermuda when bermuda is dormant but be careful.

Henbit is embarrassingly easy to pull out. For a plant with such a large foliage, it sure doesn’t have any roots.
