So I recently put down some emerald zoysia sod, and while installing it, noticed some hunting billbugs. I counted about 12 bugs and 1 billbug grub from about a pallet (looking fairly close). I assume there are more I didn't catch. Anyway, the sod looks healthy, albeit a few days old. My question... should this amount, which may equate to 1-2 every couple of square feet be a concern? Is there a "tolerable" population, or are any bad news. I would like to get rid of them either way. What measures will work? I have heard chemicals? and nematodes? What is a safe dosage for emerald zoysia that is recently sodded? Is there a preferred time to apply? Thanks! IP: Logged |

I know this is late posting but you need to be VERY concerned about those billbugs. Billbugs are difficult to kill. It usually takes a 1-2 year program to successfully get rid of them. You will need to use imadiclorprid 2 or 3 times a year. This product gets into the plant thus protecting it. You really need to use a routine pest control program for at least a year to get rid of these pest which can easily wipe out your entire zoysia lawn. IP: Logged |
