I have developed many brown spots in my yard where it appears the entire root system is gone. The grass pulls right out. I use a company to treat my lawn and they say that because I have Seville in full sun it is dying and there is nothing they can do about it. However, when I went to a local nursery they said it was a fungus. What is the truth? Will Sevill die in full sun? I think it is a fungus.

Take a look at these words of wisdom from the University of Florida. http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/TOPIC_Lawn_St._Augustinegrass

Seville does well in shade or sun, so I’d be suspicious of the lawn care company.

Try spreading 20lbs of corn meal per sqft. A thin layer of compost (1/4 inch) or a cubic yard per 1000 sqft will speed thing up to making your lawn healthy. It’s all about keeping the lawn healthy. Organic care will do that. Chemical uses will do the opposite.

You can make a big cake of cornbread out of 20lb. of cornmeal.
