I need help in my yard. I’m in Lewisville Texas. My father in law recommends applying Round-Up. “It will kill the weeds and not harm the brown grass”. My wife just pulls the weeds out. I need a good solution. Are there any recommendations out there?

i would like to see some more close up pics, but i think they’re both wrong. first of all, never pull a weed- it’ll just come back again. second, if your regular grass is coming out just a little, you could damage it with the roundup. in theory, in your market, you could have used roundup back when it was really cold, but since i dont’ know your temps, i would suggest using 24d for the broadleaf weeds and letting the grassy weeds get taken over by the regular grass when it gets warmer. it looks like wild bluegrass and broadleaf weeds to me.

I agree that going with a 2-4d product or similar broadleaf herbicide is the way to go. Don’t know what’s so bad about pulling weeds though. If you get the roots and all, its a very effective way to control them unless pulling it causes the seedlings to fall out.

yeah, that’s the problem. with some weeds like nutsedge, you actually cause more to grow back because they’re in an underground “tublet.” spray it, then hand pick in landscape beds if you need to after it’s dead.
