Two days ago I repaired my lawn. I spread about 2 inches of steer manure and seeded. I expected the smell however I didnt think about the flies. There are hundreds of flies. When will they leave or do I need to get rid of the manure and lay sod. Thanks

steer manure?

Yes, steer manure.

The proper question is: Wheel or hydro-steered?

Not much you can do about it, except let nature run her course. Water will get the nutrients into the soil and the flies will be less attracted.

Next time, blend the manure into the soil.

Never use fresh manure as a soil amendment. Manure must be properly hot composted before it is ready for use as a gardening tool otherwise it can become a sanitation problem.
