Recently put down Seville St Augustine in partially shaded Central Florida backyard. Two weeks later is starting to green nicely, but Oxalis is popping through pretty rapidly. What should I do to avoid hurting my fresh sod?

Hi Jim,
Me again. I started at the bottom and worked from there, so I replied to your other post before reading this one.
As far as weeds are concerned in your new turf, I would be very careful with new grass and herbicide. Generally speaking, I would not apply any type of herbicide until the grass has been cut several times.
Now you have another thing to consider as well. That is temperatures! I am in the panhandle, but it is sure heating up in this area. I wouldn’t be applying any broadleaf herbicide to any grass right now. Best to wait until the fall and go after them then. Use atrazine at that time. They won’t do much damage if any to the turf, and weed killer could do significant damage.
Be sure to read and follow the label directions. Also check the label to make sure it is safe for Seville (I beleive it is, but won’t bet the farm on it!).
