I had Floratam sod put down about 2.5 weeks ago and all of a sudden, I feel like I am maintaining a mushroom field, i pick at least 20 out every morning, Grass looks fantastic, do I have to quit my day job and become a mushroom picker? What can I do or what am i doing wrong???????????

I sodded my yard about 2 months ago now, and I have encountered the same problem (only 3 mushroom plumes found so far so I feel lucky). I dont know how many you have, but you have to be very careful when picking them as you do not want to spread their seeds.

Hopefully Phil can share some insight on whats the best way to cope with these.

Will, thanks for the tip, feel lucky you have only had a few, they are making me crazy. I bet i have been spreading them my picking them.

You can always get a small coffee can (to protect the surrounding St Augustine, or some other very small container, and spot spray that mess with Round-Up.

Give that a try and let me know how that works.

mushrooms are a fungus, usually brought on by lots of water. I just waited for everything to dry out, the mushrooms just died out and died.
