I live near Wichita, KS and was wondering if anyone has had much luck with 609 buffalograss. Over the last few summers I have plugged a small are with Legacy buffalograss but have been disappointed with the results. The weeds especially crabgrass and spurge have been overwhelming.Just would like to hear from someone who might have experience with buffalograss and what can be done about weeds.

Thanks,

Kent

Buffalograss is extremely slow to spread from stolons (above ground runners. It is a very commonn practice in the southern Kansas area to plant Buffalograss from seed. You can control broadleaf weeds with growth regulator chemicals ei.2,4-D. If you are dead set on a lawn of Bufffalograss I would recommend that you start over with a good quality seed (ei Cody) planted in soil temps above 65degrees. You will get tired of waiting for the buffalo to spread and fill in bare areas especiall if you are fighting an established weed problem.
