I have a new st. augustine lawn in San Antonio, TX. Very large (15,000 sf).
Sod was layed 2 weeks ago and has taken root.
What do you guys recommend as a watering pattern. We are basically in a drought situation right now with near 100 degree daytime temps.
Some small areas are loking yellow and crispy. Others are described as wet and mushy.
NEED ADVICE, PLEASE

One hour per week should be enough. Make sure you do it in the early morning and get out empty tuna cans and make sure you’re distributing the water evenly. One inch should be enough in the can is probably enough but it depends on how you water, i guess. Make sure you put out 20lbs of corn meal (get from animal feed which is alot cheaper) per 1000sqft.

Time is totally irrelevant. Get a pan and put in the yard. Water each section until you have about 3/4 of an inch of water in the pan. Water two or three days for two weeks then cut back to 2 x week. If you have dry areas then water it a little more.
Light infrequent watering will produce shallow roots. Excessive deep watering may result in fungus and washing the nutrients out. It also depends upon how much water your soil holds.
