In April and may I laid some large areas of new SA sod over bare areas in a 20-year-old yard. Neglect, poor maintenance, heavy foot traffic, etc. had caused the bare aresa. I have a heavily shaded yard in humid/hot North Central texas (Fort Worth area). I am getting some dead spots in the new sod – mostly in heavy shaded areas. What is the cause and cure?

Does it just need a bit more sun to establish?

which variety did you get? Spread about 10lbs of corn meal per 1000sqft and see if that helps. Did you water some everyday for a couple weeks? Have you used Lawn starter fertlizer to promote faster root establishment?
