I live in Central Fl and have killed off my existing lawn. I have 5 pallets of Palmetto coming in 2 weeks. What should I do next?

I plan on tilling, but have heard mixed opinions on this. Fertilize?

I have 8 pallets of Palmetto St. Augustine in my front lawn as we speak, and it will be laid tomorrow. I had 6 15cu.ft. trucks of screened top soil put down and was told it should be at least 3 inches thick, and mine it approx. 4-6″ in some areas to level my yard. They told my neighbor to prepare his by killing the old grass, and tilling the soil, then bring in top soil to make his ground level. Will be glad to let you know later how mine is doing, I know how you feel, too much money to lose? I was supposed to have received brochures on the care of this sod and haven’t as of yet. Maybe they will bring it with them tomorrow.

Good luck you can’t go wrong with either of the above things to do. My neighbors yard looks great, and I believe mine will too!

P.S.Forgot to mention I was told No fertilizer, until sod is established.
