I’m planning to lay down sod in central Austin on Saturday. Yesterday I called to place my order for the delivery and was asked if I wanted Raleigh or Palmetto. I had planned to get Raleigh, but had not heard of Palmetto. So now I’m unsure. Can someone make a recommendation or explain to me why I might choose Palmetto over Raleigh? I’ve read the “literature” about it being more shade tolerant, cold-hardy, and greener . . . which sounds very good, but is it worth the extra 30%?

i’ve found it’s pretty much splitting hairs. pros will spend time going over the latest up to date seed types and then the homeowner won’t water it! there are other factors that affect the quality of the grass.
