At a recent(03/24/05) visit to Busch Gardens Tampa, I noticed a new turfgrass used in some areas of the park. It has a med to fine blade and a dark green color. This grass is ABSOLUTE BEAUTIFUL! Can anyone help me identify this grass?

I live in central florida and just had Ameriturf Sod installed. It sounds like the grass you described. Dark Green, Med. to thin Blade and Shade Tolerant. Is this grass at Busch Gardens in a shady area? If so, It’s probably Ameriturf. A new cultiver of St. Augustine. There is another thread in this forum saying the grass is fungus prone. Also Amerishade sodfarm was in Apollo Beach (near Tampa) I’ll keep you posted on how my Amerishade thrives. Take Care.

Redknight, where did you purchase the Ameriturf? I’m in central FL too, and hadn’t heard of this one. Also, did you plant in shady areas? Thanks

I had the sod installed by a company called Garden Palette. They are in Orlando. I had the Grass installed in mostly shade. So far, so good… But, it’s only been a week. I’ll keep you posted.
