I have lived in this house for over 3 years now and the people who lived here previously did not take care of the lawn.

It was about 1/2 st. augustine 1/2 bermuda when I moved in with a lot of dallas, crab, nut, etc. mixed in. I have just about gotten the st. augustine to spread over the entire lawn but am having trouble getting the dallas to go away.

I have used image in the past and have had success controlling the nut and crabgrass, but the dallas seems to have really gotten a huge head start this year. I would just spot treat with roundup, but it is so close together by the street, I would have to use a pump up sprayer and spray that whole area.

Any other recommendations? Will the dallas go away if I focus on getting the st. augustine as thick as possible or does it need to be poisoned?

Thanks

John

I always end up pulling that stuff out by hand, because I can never kill it without damaging the st. augustine. If your St. Agustine gets plenty of sunlight, it should eventually crowd out the weeds you’ve shown. But sunlight hours is key.
