I live in central Florida and have 16,000 sq.ft. of St. Augustine (Floratam) grass. I have tried all well-known brands of fertilizer programs. From the street, the grass looks fine, but upon close observation, it’s thin and not dark green. Wherever my neighbor’s dog poops in the yard, there is one square foot of rich, dark green and thick grass. My question is, what does this indicate my yard is lacking because I end up killing the grass before it reaches this point. Thank you, Hangar 78

sounds like you’re underfertilized. soil test and follow the recommendations.

Is it a new lawn? how much are you watering? floratam is slow to green up when it comes out of its semi dormant winter stupor..Has it been a really cold winter up there? I live in southwest florida,,pretty mild here…Tag the lawn with a 24-2-10, or 16-4-2 with the minors!

Thats a easy one..poop is great fertilizer,,ammonia, readily availiable food…If the grass is really green, you won’t notice, but if you watch really close,,wherever the dog poops the grass will grow much faster..

16-2-8.HIT IT HARD.16sq ft.150 to 200 pds 4 to 5 bags.water day before and day after..wait about 10 days and tell me what you see. its a good place to start.
