I have an area about 50 feet by 15 feet that has had no grass there for about three years. I want to sod this area with a very thick, very green sod. I live in Albany, GA, the area will get a lot of sun light.
Where I need advice is: can I sod now (November/December) and what is the best type of sod for me?

i’m wondering why there wasn’t any grass to begin with? i think sodding pretty much any kind of grass in your market this late in the season wouldn’t be a good idea. i’m sure there are those who would put it down, but it’s too risky for the money involved.

There is a large tree that prevents any sunlight from getting in and there used to be a covered shelter here. The covered shelter was there to cover lawn equipment etc.
The large tree is going and the lawn equipment is stored elsewhere.
I have been told I could sod now I just need to do it before the weather drops below 30 degrees. If it does drop, keep a water sprinkler on it to keep the temperature up. This advice was given by a sod farm thats why Im curious (they have an interest in selling sod).
