I hope someone can help me. I am Rhode Island and my front lawn is zoysia grass. While it looks great in the summer it is awful in late fall through mid spring. Whai I want to know is what would be a good type of grass to overseed it with to obtain year round green I am not looking to kill the zoysia I just want a green lawn after the first frost and earlier spring green up. Thanks

Try ‘Poa trivialis’ at 3lbs per 1,000sq ft. Before seeding mow short- but do not scalp down to the ground. Small poa seeds move into the remaining thatch layer and germinate with no problem.
