Hi. I have been shoveling St. Augustine grass out and replacing them with Bermuda. My question is that after full growth, will the St. Augustine grass mix in with the Bermuda grass? If so, what can I do to kill off the rest of the St. Augustine grass. Thanks.

Roundup. but it will kill the bermuda, too

Some weed and feeds I have seen are for bermuda and not for St. Aug. They claim to kill the St. Aug. and feed the bermuda. Contact Scott’s or a proffesional.I don’t know if this will completely kill off your St. Aug. but it will keep it under control.

Suggest two things to help convert your yard:

1. Mow the grass frequently and at a lower setting. Higher grass height favors St. Augustine.

2. Spot spray patches of St Augustine with a selective herbicide having MSMA or DSMA (or both) as the active ingredient. You can use herbicides with Diclofop-methyl, 2,4-D or MCPP as the AI but these may injure the bermuda somewhat.

Good luck!!

mow it short and don’t water it, the bermuda can take the heat and the st, augustine will die a quick death

plugging with bermuda and spot watering might help too

still don’t get we you wouldn’t want the st. augustine though
