I have St. Augustine and everytime I mow the grass blades look frayed; like cutoff blue jeans. So the tips turn brown. I tried sharpening my lawnmower blade but that didn’t help. I even tinkered with the engine to increase the RPM(too much Tim Allen)and that didn’t have an effect.

Any ideas? The only way I could duplicate the look was to take a blade of grass and slowly tear it in two. I got a cleaner cut by pulling the grass blade in half.

Thanks!

there’s alot more than just sharpening- you have to have the blades balanced as well- may be time for a new blade- also, check the mower- if you want to see what it’s supposed to look like, then take a pair of scissors and cut a blade of grass- perfectly green, clean cut.
