my st augustine yard is in very bad condition. brown areas with just weeds growing and other areas full of sandspurs. with the high cost of sod i was thinking of plugging 1/2 of the yardat a time how do i keep weeds from growing between the plugs and should i use topsoil ? thanks for any advice.

just sod it. life’s too short to wait for plugs. been there, done that….

lol @ “just sod it.” Yeah if you wipe your arse with $20 bills, I totally agree. But not everyone does and so the answer isn’t that simple.

I think the answer varies depending on not just $ to lay out but your climate, how long you willing to wait for plugs to fill in, type of grass desired or planned, etc etc.

yeah, it really is that simple. by the time you’ve spent countless hours and all that extra money trying to maintain a lawn that’s not going to work from the start, you might as well have sodded it correctly from the beginning. not to mention that alot of subdivisions will not allow it! sod’s not that expensive, if you know how to buy it. and you can always seed it , depending upon where you live. plugs are a waste.
