What is the best way to start St.Aug plugs in a fescue yard? Do I have to kill all of the fescue or will the St. Aug take over?

What part of the country do you live in? I was thinking of trying Fescue in my St. Augustine lawn.

What did you like/dislike about fescue. I planted some seed in a few bare spots of my lawn and in some pots and I lover the look and feel of the Fescue. The seed is a Pennington mix of Plantation and some other “P” named Fescue. The bag said it is turf type tall Fescue specially blended for my area.

I live in the south North Carolina. Fescue takes so much water to stay green. It always seems to burn out in late August. Weeds are a problem and so are my kids. My Uncle has the St. Aug grass so I plan to use it. He doesn’t have to water it as much and it seems to choke out most of the weeds.
