I moved into a newly built home last September and they had laid Bermuda sod. Bad time of the year to move in because the grass quickly went dormant.

This spring I decided to put some Scotts Turfbuilder Plus 2 to wake it up and get it green.

I am a rookie and I must have done something wrong because there were large burn spots left in some areas.

The Bermuda is starting to green up in areas but the large spots remain what looks like dead grass.

what do I do to get it to green up in these burn spots?

do I need to do anything?

more fertilizer?

PLEASE HELP!!!!!

sounds like misapplication = there’s nothing wrong with the product you used although it’s not as strong as what pros would use. call a pro in- difficult to diagnose over the web. or maybe post a picture!

I agree with misapplication. You cannot wake up a dormant lawn with fertilizer. Usually the chemical fertilizers go down after the second mowing of the season to ensure the grass is growing and taking in nutrients.

The burn spots are likely either fungus or bugs. You can’t burn dormant grass either (unless you caught it just right with an overdose of salts or something).

Dchall_San_Antonio….I am in Dallas and am wondering if it is ok to move to organic from synthetic by using a corn meal application after I have put down nitrogen this past weekend. Do I need to wait to put down the corn meal?

Any insight is appreciated.
