We put in a new lawn last summer. It looks terrible. I think it might be because we used different kinds of seed (that were given to us -fescues, kentucky blue, rye). We just put the seed down and watered it. Is that a problem? Is there anything that can be done to fix it? Will it eventually grow together? I just want it to look decent, not perfect. I think there is crabgrass in there, too, but I’m not sure. I was told to fertilize it this spring and it would be ok.Thanks!

well, you’ve got the right grass types- sounds like seeding again this spring ( temps in the 70’s) will help you. there are some weed control products that can be using while seeding- not sure if you as a homeowner can buy them, however. sounds like getting a good stand of grass is your first issue then weed control second. get your lawn going then you can lessen your weed control problems. not 100% sure about when your seeding schedule is there, cool season grasses usually best planted in the fall, but since you’re in idaho…..

Maybe you didn’t use enough seed for proper coverage.
