I live in arkansas and have about 2 and 1/2acres of burmuda, last summer I used msma with great results, then fertilized. The msma did not kill all unwanted grasses and weeds, I would like to use round up sometime soon to get rid of the rest but dont know when to apply it. should I do this now or wait for weed growth to start, I am aware it must be applied while the bermuda is dormant but if used to early could it be a waste of time ? If to late the bermuda will die and I do not want that at all. some of the unwanted stuff is green but is not really growing and im sure that as spring gets closer more unwanted grasses and weeds will begin to emerge. I would use a pre-emerge but dont know what to buy and also want to kill the stuff thats left over from last year (post emerge ) does all this lead back to round up while the bermuda is dormant ?

Round-up your yard now. MSMA is good for grassy weeds buy you’ll want to use 2,4-D for broadleaf weeds. For pre-emerge use something with a fertilizer mix with it. I’m using Barricade this year which I hate, but on my course we are tight on money. I’m going to split it up by going half in March and the other half in May. The reason is, with Barricade if you put it all down at once and you have any winter kill the grass won’t grow. You can use Ronstar,Regalstar and so on.

be very careful. temperature spikes can cause bermuda to come a little out of dormancy-huge variety of temps around the country this time of year. unfortunately, homeowners can’t buy the professional versions of what you’re recommending! i think you’re too late for the roundup-however, selective grassy and weed controls would be ok.- bermuda coming out of dormancy is a very critical time for the health of the grass.
