Hi there,
I live in boulder city nevada and I just moved to a new house. The grass seems different to the grass that I had back in california. Where can I find out what type of grass I have?
thanks
adam

you could find it on the web. or take it to a local university or a lawn care company

astnfan, seedheads (inflorescences) are needed for someone to make a positive identification. That’s true for most kinds of grasses. So when you see the stalks come up, collect a few and lay them on a digital scanner, that way you’ve got an image to send someone. There are web sites with photos showing the seedheads of common grasses, and you can make a comparison yourself with common lawn grasses. Get a high resolution scan showing just a few of the seeds, which will also be helpful in identification.
If all you have right now are leaves and runners, you might still have a chance of identifying it. There are distinctive characteristics of the leaf tips and the stems.
