Can you pluck the seed that grows on blades of st agustine grass in central Texas and plant it??

yes! Will it grow? Maybe!

No, St. Augustine’s seeds are sterile. St. Augustine propigates via it’s stolon. You can sprig it, plug it, or sod it. You cannot seed it.

St. Augustine’s seeds are always sterile?I didn’t know that! I thought there were a few cultivars of “common” St Augustine found in Texas that were fertile!

Drake, you could be right, but none that I have ever heard of. A St. Augustine seed would be nice though as I stare at my newly filled back yard in all of its 600+ square foot glory just waiting to be sodded. LoL!

Most of the dwarf varieties such as Seville produce abundant viable seed; Floratam is sterile except rarely.
