When is the best time to plant St. Augustine sod?

My thought is spring/early summer when temperature is consistantly above 80!

i believe i would go ahead and seed it for the winter with rye grass , then do your sodding next spring- that way your sod will ahve a better chance and the ryegrass will give your lawn a green color during the winter
