We had new St. Augustine sod put in the last week of June – it is now 8/6/02 – not sure what to expect – seeing a lot of dead “thatch” – – was told to water every morning and late afternoon for 1/2 to 45 minutes per section for 2 months – – have recently seen a lot of tiny moths so I put down diazinon a coule days ago – – – – lawn is in pretty much full sun starting from noon on – – questions – – –

when should we be seeing a full thick healthy lawn –

when should we first fertilize

are we doing anything wrong?

Thanks for any help anyone can be.

Sod should be knitted (rooted) to the soil by now. Try to pull up a couple of pieces and see. If it is rooted, you need to cut back on watering to an “as needed” basis. You might want to apply some fertilizer; maybe a ½ pound of nitrogen per 1000 square feet. The Diazinon should take care of the bug/worm problem. Checkout reference for additional “how tos”
