Not sure I fully understand your situation, but here is what (I think) I would do.Edge or vertically cut (3 or 4 inches deep if you can) the grass two or three inches back from the drive. Spray the grass in that 2 or 3 inch strip with Roundup. Also spray grass that pushes through the blacktop.

I had the same problem a few years ago. My solution was to dig a six-inch trench down the side of the driveway about 2 or 3 feet from the driveway. I dug out all the grass I could then sprayed the ground with Roundup. I then placed heavy plastic edging in the trench to stop any future encroachment from the zoysia. I planted liriope in the space between the driveway and the zoysia. Mulched heavily. It’s been 3 years and so far the zoysia has not penetrated the edging.

Is the zoysia grass a problem to control? I am thinking of putting some plugs around our pool area. I really do not want to be replacing any of it due to the grass. Any advice?
