I live in Lake Havasu City, AZ. I’m the prosses of putting in A lawn in our new home. The average summer daytime temps. are 105 degrees and can get to over 120 but not too often. There is very little rain fall all year long, average of 3.82 inches per year.I would like to know what would be the best grass to plant? And would the Zoysia grass be good for this weather? And does this grass only come in plugs or can you get it in seed? If anyone has any information that would be helpfull please e-mail atjssa@citlink.net thanks jeff

The Seedland said Zoysia seed is quicker to be established compare to the plugs. Go to www.seedland.com read more about the Zoysia lawn. Plenty of information in their web page but no saying if AZ is a good place to have Zoysia grass. I myself is thinking to put down Zoysia grass for the new house we just bought in Peoria, AZ. Would like to know if the grass goes dormant (IN brown/yellow color)any season of the year in Peoria, AZ?

Zoysia lover (Due to it’s low maintenance etc.)

No comment on the appropriateness of zoysia for your locale, but – I have found empire zoysia to be a higher maintenance lawn thatn many have been led to believe. Certainly no less than St. Augustine. But – it is gorgeous.
