There is currently only one mailing lists and it is separate from the Turfgrass Forums (you could be subscribed to Turfgrass Management without being registered in the Turfgrass Forums, or vice-versa).  Turfgrass Management is a highly moderated announcement list, which means that everything submitted is actually reviewed, and almost always rewritten.  If you subscribe to the Turfgrass Management list through Hotmail, Yahoo, or other popular web mail, please check your preferences, to make sure your messages are not thrown into the bulk mail (explained below).

Turfgrass Management is mainly for professionals employed in turfgrass management in and around Florida.  It has been active since 1999, and was formerly called TurfTalk-Digest.  Frequency is 1 to 4 issues compiled per month.  In addition, there will be information for homeowners who want deeper understanding of landscape gardening, espcially lawn care.  Inquiries and comments are welcomed on interesting aspects of lawn care products and practices, weed problems, planting techniques, and diagnosis of turf problems.  If you want to solve a specific problem, you should best go to the County Extension agent in the state and county where you reside.  There is no guarantee that questions will be answered or posted.  You can post messages to your colleagues on meeting notices, job announcements, weird happenings on your greens, new pesticide registrations, research results, equipment you want to give away, and anything else concerning turfgrass in and around Florida and other subtropical areas.

The Details

Your privacy will be protected.  The mailing list will never be used outside of Turfgrass Management, and your name and e-mail address will never be provided to others, not even to other subscribers.  Except, when you post to the group your e-mail address will probably be displayed to other subscribers, and your name will also be posted, if your mail program is configured to show your name.

Send your message, just like ordinary e-mail, to:

management@turfgrass.com

Only subscribed members can write messages, so be sure that the e-mail address in your Internet Explorer, Netscape, or AOL is the same e-mail address from which you subscribed.  If you use different computers or have different e-mail addresses, you can subscribe twice, and you can also use an e-mail service such as http://Hotmail.com, http://Yahoo.com, etc.  Messages should be short and written to inform.  Messages should have pertinent details such as dates, times, locations, contact names, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, and (this would be really nice) URL web addresses where people can go for further information.  Include a good SUBJECT header.

Postings will be heavily moderated.  Blatantly commercial messages, self-promotions, and long messages will receive poor treatment.  The service is not affiliated with any association, club chapter, university, or company selling services to turf professionals in Florida, but it is available for all to use.

Bulk Mail Problem in Hotmail and other web mail programs such as Yahoo

The Hotmail bulk mail filter places mailing lists such as Turfgrass Management and TropicTurf that lack a specified recipient (the "To:") into your Bulk Mail folder, aka Junk Mail.  This following explains how to receive list mail in your Hotmail Inbox; similar steps may be needed for Yahoo Mail.

Sign on to your Hotmail account and in your mail home page click in the upper left the "Junk Mail" folder icon.  In the new window, find the latest Turfgrass Management or TropicTurf in your Subject column (the From will be Turfgrass Management); if it's easier, by clicking the column header you can have messages listed in order of "From" or "Subject."

Click the square check box to the left of the message.  Click the gray "This is not Junk Mail" button at the top the list of mail.  You will be sent to a new window where you can check the round radio button that says, "belong to a mailing list from which I received this message."

Alternatively, you can review your current settings under Options, and, underneath Mail Handling, select Mailing Lists. If you are subscribed
to Turfgrass Management, then it should list management@turfgrass.com

By itself, the Junk Mail filter is probably not the right place to fix this problem, because even if the Junk Mail filter is set to "Low," your list mail will still be placed in the circular file.
